Martini Vermouth by Martini & Rossi – Torino – C. 1930
Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, takes center stage in this breath-taking Martini & Rossi poster by San Marco. Beautiful golden grapes embellish his face; grape leaves and vines adorn his beard and hair; and a bottle of Martini Vermouth stands atop his head in a blue and black background resembling the ocean and the sky blended together. Though Bacchus’ face is partially obscured, it’s a friendly, happy face with smiling eyes. He is also the god of good times and revelry, and he’s presenting this Vermouth to us as a reminder that it’s important to celebrate the good times, and celebrating the good times with Martini Vermouth makes the good times even better. In 1863, owners Alessandro Martini, Luigi Rossi, and Teofilo Sola made the decision to export their product, and within thirty years it was the one of the leaders in the vermouth industry. It is still in business and producing vermouth. You will enjoy toasting Bacchus and the good times he brings us all when you lease this poster. 28″ wide by 41″ tall unframed.
